AEW Forbidden Door 2023 Results and Review

People are falling over themselves regarding the Forbidden Door PPV, with some people calling it a perfect event. I’ve yet to see anyone jeer at it, and it’s interesting to see what is to come for me as I watch and review it. This is my take on the results and review of Forbidden Door from 2023!

MJF defeated Hiroshi Tanahashi

MJF kept saying that he was going to roll through Tanahashi, and I was surprised that he couldn’t do i. Ok, I wasn’t surprised, but Tanahashi wouldn’t go down lightly. He took a beating a lot of the time though, and it was interesting to see MJF dissect the ACE for the most part. However, Tanahashi did get some offense in, but it wasn’t a simple open and shut case. Thanks to a distraction and a gold ring on the finger of MJF, the champion remained such with a win over Hiroshi Tanahashi. A good opening match, not great, but good overall if you ask me. Tanahashi had some good offense, but it was definitely MJF that shined here, as usual, the guy is a great heel.

Cm Punk defeated Satoshi Kojima

A solid chess match of pro wrestling overall. This was a brawl, a fight, and a wrestling match all thrown into one solid event. CM Punk was able to catch Kojima several times with lariats, and stop gaps, throwing in some interesting moves. This was a cerebral match, so there was focus on wearing down Kojima, relaxed and mental overall. Punk wrestling heel was good overall. Kojima turned things around at one point, and had Punk reeling several times. After some back and forth, it was Punk with the GTS that would put way Kojima in a hard fought battle.

Orange Cassidy defeated Daniel Garcia, Katsuyori Shibata, and Zack Sabre Jr. in the AEW International title

Orange Cassidy steals a victory in this one. There was a lot of back and forth, and a lot of wrestling, frenetically paced wrestling at that. Zack Sabre Jr. was impressive again, Garcia and Shibata threw down too, but it was Cassidy that was able to pull a victory. He pulled one out here, and it was an interesting match with a lot of great moments. I loved it, it was so entertaining, full of pure wrestling and reversals, great just great. I loved it, and it was the match of the night up to this point, and wow, just amazing fun match.

Sanada defeated Jack Perry

Sanada put on a clinic against Perry. Perry got a beat down, and while he did have a few moments, it was not the night for Perry to win. Senada put on one hell of a clinic in regards to some of his moves, and while Jack was able to counter here and there, it just wasn’t for him to get the victory, he needed something more punishing and Sanada just was too powerful. Quality wrestling match here, with a great deal of back and forth, until Sanada pinched in his submissions, and moves.

Post match Perry cheap shots Hook and leaves him laying on the floor.

The Elite (Adam Page, Matt Jackson, Nick Jackson) and Eddie Kingston and Tomohiro Ishii defeated Blackpool Combat Club (Claudio Castanoli, Jon Moxley, Wheeler Yuta), Konosuke Takeshida and Shota Umino

An all out war of a match, with a lot of action. There was a little bit of wrestling for everyone, with brawling and all out moves left and right. You got something from everyone here, with superkicks, buckshot attempt, shooting star presses, ddts, and just a lot of brawling. The end came with an insane brain buster from Ishii to Wheeler Yuta. One hell of a match, fun overall, just fun overall. One of the best ten man tag matches you’re going to see, and it’s just a great match to see.

Toni Storm defeated Willow Nightingale in the AEW Women’s World Title Match

This was a fun match, with Nightingale getting a lot of action throughout. Storm did manage to bring things around, and there was some moments where you thought Nightingale was going to win this one, but nope, after a distracted ref and eye gauge, Storm pulled through with a nice piledriver, quick and easy, and boom, Storm wins the match. Nightingale was great here, but it was Storm that was a little smarter this time around.

Will Ospreay defeated Kenny Omega for the IWGP United States Heavyweight Title

Will Ospreay put on a clinic with Kenny Omega. Omega did everything in his power to take control and at times he had it, it was stalemated. Then after time and time again Will Ospreay reversed things, and Omega was not able to win the bigger picture. He just couldn’t overcome the onslaught that Will Ospreay threw down. He got busted open, he got beaten, bruised, and just lost his belt. This was one hell of a battle, and it really just showcases amazing things.

Darby Allin, Sting, Tetsuya Naito defeated Minoru Suzuki, Chris Jericho, and Sammy Guevara

The weakest of the matches from the night. This was ok for the most part, but just OK overall. There was a lot of back and forth, brawling, and a sick 630 into a table on sting from Guevara! But outside of that, this was a bland matchup with not a lot to write home about. It was ok, at best if you ask me.

Bryan Danielson defeated Kazuchika Okada

If you were looking for a technical wrestling match, then you got it. These two men put on a clinic of what a technical wrestling match is all about. There were a variety of different moves, reversals, on going hits, and a great deal of transition overall. The match was hard hitting, technical, full of psychology and perhaps one of the best showcases of talent that you could expect from wrestling today. Okada tapped out to Danielson! One hell of a match, just amazing.

Overall Thoughts

Perhaps the best PPV show I’ve seen all year. This has been a good year for live events, and this was one of the best ones I’ve seen. Nearly 4 hours of the most impressive, and amazing shows. Danielson broke his arm in this match and still finished it. Much respect to him.

AEW Collision 6/24/23 Results and Review

AEW comes through Canada this time for AEW Collision, and who knows what went down? Well I saw the results and am listening to Notorious B.I.G. and watching the show for review. I wish I could travel to see these shows, but oh well.

The opening showed us who would be on Sting and Darby Allin’s partner, and it was none other than NAITO! That should be great overall, sounds like a blast to me overall.

Hiroshi Tanahash defeated Swerve Strickland

A solid back and forth match, Strickland did not back down at all. Meanwhile Tanahashi got a lot of his moves in to make this one a great opener. Even though it was less than 11 minutes long, it had a good deal of back and forth action to make it a solid opening for the show. Tanahashi is always fun to watch and Swerve is rad at what he does. A good opener if I do say so myself.

Andrade El Idolo defeated Brody King by DQ

One hell of a match here folks, with a lot of brawling. The two were hitting hard, and Brody King was asserting his power a great deal of the match. Andrade was definitely present, but it was King that was impressive in this match, beating and wearing down Andrade for the most part. The match turned around and Andrade was ready to set the figure 8, but Buddy Matthews rand own and beat up El Idolo causing the DQ finish. A good match with a DQ finish, fun stuff overall if you ask me.

Willow Nightingale defeated Nyla Rose

A strong women’s match. It was incredible to see these women put on a showcase, with a lot of brawling, and some heavy handed moves. Willow hit a strong powerbomb after a pounce and pinned Nyla Rose. It was a good one if you ask me. I liked the pace, and the strong style overall, good stuff.

Powerhouse Hobbs defeated Jeremy Prophet

A quick match, and it was over. Nothing great here, just a burial, squash match.

Bullet Club (Jay white, Juice Robinson) and the Gunns (Austin and Colton Gunn) defeated CM Punk, FTR, and Ricky Starks

What a violent 20 some odd minutes of a tag match! Without using plunder of any kind, there was a lot of brawling, and a lot of big moves found on this night’s match. Great back and forth, great singles moments, but also tag team options that had both teams winning at various times during the matchup. Jay White hit the Bladerunner and boom, got the victory. This was a hard battle, and it was a great showing from both teams.

Overall thoughts

A great overall night of wrestling. Lots of wrestling, little to no talking, great stuff here. I loved it. The main event delivered, the opening match was great, the women’s match was good too, just overall solid wrestling, you can’t go wrong with Collision.

AEW Rampage 6/24/23 Results and Review

The fastest hour of professional wrestling was live from Chicago, well it was taped live. With that in mind, let’s get to the action.

Swerve Strickland and United Empire defeated CHAOS

A lot of work went through this matchup. Lots of back and forth here, with all sorts of brawling, moves, and more. There wasn’t “one” clear cut winning team at first, as there was a lot of back and forth between the two teams. The crowd was all over it, and I thought it was interesting to see the wrestlers get their moves in overall. The United Empire won this match after some great momentum. Fun match, great opening for the night.

Adam Cole got beat up by Tom Lawlor, so that was that, MJF kept saying he was going to save him but kept hesitating overall. Not bad, not great, just a good midpoint before a commercial.

Billy Gunn and The Acclaimed defeated Axel Rico, Darius Latrell, and Koda

This was a fast match. It took roughly 40 seconds or so and it was over. The match was done fast and meh.

Skye Blue defeated Anna Jay AS

A very neat package was found in this match up. Under 10 minutes, but it certainly had a lot of action. There were a lot of reversals and some power moves, and of course Sky Blue’s finisher for the win. This wasn’t an easy spot for  Blue, she moved through to the winning in a nice finisher.

Jack Perry defeated DOUKI

A strong contender for a great main event. It had some good back and forth, but it was  Jack that would the last laugh when he made Douki tap out. Not a whole lot to speak about there.

Sanada came to the ring and stood head to head with Jack Perry and that was the end of Rampage.

Overall Thoughts

I was a swift show with not a lot to write about. 18,000 people cheering and singing. A good night of wrestling, but nothing so special you have to watch. I liked it don’t get wrong, I’m just a little tired.  

Wrestling Revolver and The Ring of Destiny 2023

Wrestling Revolver and the Ring of Destiny came through town 6/17/23 to Dayton Ohio. They were at Calumet Center at Montgomery County Fairgrounds. I was not there live and did not catch the show until later on FIteTV.

Sami Callihan defeated JT Dunn

Not much of a match here, it was less than 5 minutes, and it was basically Callihan rolling over JT Dunn. Not that it wasn’t entertaining, but it was shorter than I expected. Fun start, it was just a one sided affair.

Allie Katch and Logan James defeated Billie Starkz and Brogan Finlay

A solid back and forth match here with some good moves. A death valley driver on the apron was grand, otherwise this was a standard mixed tag team match up. Starkz and Finlay did their best but it was Katch and James that got the victory here.

Alan Angels defeated Robert Martyr

A strong match, with some great back and forth. Alan Angels was impressive, reminded me a little of Ricochet. Robert Martyr was ok, but he couldn’t match the fast paced offense that Angels threw down here. Great fun.

Alex Colon defeated Crazy King in a Unlucky 13 Staple Gun Match

This match turned into a hardcore match fast. The main goal was to staple 13 staples into your opponent before you could score a pinfall win. This was fun to say the least, but it was methodical and just crazy overall. Crazy King is nothing short of crazy, kicking out of some impressive moments. The end came when Alex Colon went double knees through Crazy King and a set of light tubes! Fun match, crazy moments, a good hardcore match.

Madman Fulton defeated Crash Jaxon

A hardcore match ensued in this one, and it was a lot of back and forth. Madman Fulton is a big guy, and Crash Jaxon was big, but in a different way. Madman would get the win with some innovative offense, and a powerbomb through a chair. Fun hardcore style match overall. I liked it, it wasn’t half bad.

Damian Chambers won a Golden Ticket Gauntlet match

This was like a Royal Rumble match, there were a lot of competitors in this one. There was some good back and forth, solid brawling, and fun overall. Damian Chambers won it all, and it was a fun romp. I don’t know how many people were in it, but it was fun. Shark Boy showed up and that was awesome!

The Motor City Machine Guns defeated ABC

Well, this was definitely a match that had two good teams in it. It wasn’t an extreme affair, but the Motor City Machine Guns pulled out some classic moves. They threw down a great deal, and had some nice offense. ABC did have some good stuff too, this was a back and forth affair, but it was the Motor City Machine Guns that got the upper hand in the end, and won. A solid match, just felt a little long.

Jake Crist defeated Steve Maclin in the Revolver Title Match

Jake Crist impressed me overall. He was able to overcome a great deal of offense from Steve Maclin, and got his hands on the title. He took a great deal of offense, and Maclin was not going down easily. Maclin was the larger of the two competitors, and Crist really did a good job in following along and staying in good pace with him. Good overall match, fun times, and a new world champion.

After the match Jake Crist got a message from the King of Indies Matt Cardona! He said he is going to be there August third and wants a shot at the Wrestling Revolver championship!

Jon Moxley and The Second Gear Crew (1 Called Manders, Mance Warner, and Matthew Justice) defeated Rickey Shane Page and The Rascalz (Myron Reed, Trey Miguel, Zachary Wentz)

An all out brawl, was had here. There was even a moment when a kid got into the action with a big boot. The match was not a fundamental wrestling match, but rather a brawl with all men getting chances to show their stuff. They set up doors, and it turned into a sort of hardcore match that you see in indies a lot. Things got bloody, and a lot of carnage ensued. Moxley and crew would get the win after a lot of brawling, and that was that. End of the show! There were some nonsensical moments, but alas, it’s an indy fed, so let’s not get too technically lost.

Overall Thoughts

I honestly thought this felt like a long winded show. However, it was a fun ride through some different kinds of wrestling, including some brawling, technical, and hardcore moments too. If you have a chance to see this, get the Fite app, and go to a show and see what’s up overall. This was a fun night of wrestling if you ask me.

AEW Dynamite 6/21/23 Results and Review

Another Dynamite comes through from Chicago and the crowd was wild for the opening, and throughout. Let’s see how it all went down and my thoughts on the matter.

The Gunns defeated The Hardys

A fun fast paced tag team match. The Gunns were getting rocked a great deal at one point, and there was a lot of fighting to be had. The Hardys threw down a great deal of offense, and it was a fun time, with the crowd all over it. The end came with Bullet Club Gold interfering and ended up getting beat down by the crew, and after a 3:10 to Yuma, the Hardys were put down. After the match they got beat down until Ricky Starks came threw and he got beat down too. Out came FTR as well and there was a wild brawl. Fun stuff to begin Dynamite.

Mark Briscoe defeated Jeff Jarrett in a concession stand brawl

What a wild match! It started in the concession stands and went down to the ring, and it was a lot of fun. Jarrett can still go! Wow, this was a highlight for me, a great deal of brawling, some good wrestling, and just a fun time with the crowd going absolutely nuts. Jarrett would get his friends to run in but they couldn’t finish off Briscoe as he had his own friends come through and help. Briscoe would get the win, and eventually would roll up Jarrett and what a nice matchup. Great overall fun match, check it out.

Minoru Suzuki and The Jericho Appreciation Society defeated Action Andretti, AR Fox, and Darius Martin

A solid six man match. A lot of back and forth happened here, with every guy getting some time to shine. Suzuki is awesome, and was great to see him in this match. He is just strong and bold, loved it. This was a good overall modern style wrestling match with frenetic pacing toward the end. The Lion Tamer came out at one point, and was just a great thing to see, a great matchup with a lot of fun back and forth, I liked it a lot.

Adam Cole called out MJF and he obliged! He came down to the ring to talk with Cole. They were interrupted and were informed that they would have to team up! They would be a tag team for the upcoming tournament to see who would win a shot at the AEW tag titles.

Daniel Garcia and Zack Sabre Jr defeated Katsuyori Shibata and Orange Cassidy

Slow and steady this match wasn’t much to write home about at first glance. However, there were some nice moments between Zack Sabre Jr and Orange Cassidy to be specific. Garcia was great too, and this was a harder hitting match than I had originally expected. If you were expecting a frenetic pace, you didn’t get it here. It was more methodical than anything, and it was a fun match overall. Zack Sabre Jr is my favorite wrestler right now, just impressive to say the least.

Kris Statlander defeated Taya Valkyrie in the AEW TBS Title Match

Taya did a lot of the damage in this match, it was slow and methodical. However, Statlander did manage to reverse some elements, and eventually got the Tombstone piledriver, and got the win. It was a test, however, Statlander stood tall overall, which was a lot of fun.

Overall Thoughts

A great deal of wrestling was found on this show, and I didn’t dislike any of it. I was impressed with how packed the show was, and how much fun I had with it. I loved it overall, and will be watching Rampage, Collision, and Forbidden Door. So much good stuff is coming from AEW.

WWE NXT 6/20/23 Results and Review

This time around we are reviewing WWE NXT. I was in Cleveland for Raw, and it was an amazing time. I posted pictures to my Twitter, and well, I’ll eventually post more on here but until then, let’s discuss the night of WWE NXT 6/20 overall. Great stuff overall awaits, right? Seth Rollins was meant to have an open challenge on Monday, but he couldn’t get it done due to Finn Balor. But that didn’t stop him from fighting Bron Breaker, and that’s the main event here.

Wes Lee defeated Tyler Bate in the WWE NXT North American Title match

A solid back and forth matchup opened the show. It was slow to start, and Mustafa Ali was the ref. I got distracted with the commercials, even though there was picture in picture. I just couldn’t really get into a small screen. Whatever the case was, the match featured some hard hitting action, and a bit of back and forth from Lee and Bate. Nice match, Wes Lee goes over in a frenetic ending.

There was a pep rally, and I was falling asleep.

Edris Enofe Malik Blade defeated Brooks Jensen and Josh Briggsl, Hank Walker and Tank Ledger in a triple threat title match

I admit, I was falling asleep during this match. I  had to rewatch it. It’s not a bad match, it was a solid affair, but it seemed a bit rushed to the finish line. After a nice frog splash, Edris Enofe and Malik Blade were able to pull out a sweet victory.

Cora Jade defeated Dana Brooke

I was in Cleveland and Dana Brooke was getting cheered like crazy. I don’t think she sucks, I like her. This was a somewhat awful match It was a little longer than I thought, but it wasn’t great. Cora Jade would target Dana’s leg, and would eventually get the match thrown out after a submission. However, we were supposed to believe that Dana Brooke couldn’t continue at two different times in this match. Oh well. You can forget this one overall if you ask me.

Jakara Jackson and Lash Legend defeated Valentina Feroz and Yulisa Leon

Just over 3 minutes of wrestling in this one. Not exactly a thriller. This was ok, to say the least. I didn’t hate it, but it definitely wasn’t grand overall. It was ok at the very least. I honestly don’t known what else to tell ya, it wasn’t that great.

Seth Rollins defeated Bron Breakker in the WWE World Heavyweight Title Match

A good overall match was found here. Bron Breakker targeted Rollins’ ribs that were taped. The match was methodical and moving nicely. It was a fast paced and good in a smaller venue. A frog splash through the announcers table was a great shot with Rollins taking Breakker on at all levels. Breakker hit the Frankensteiner, a sick looking powerslam, and so much more. This match delivered on all cylinders, mind you. Two curb stomps later, Seth Rollins put away Bron Breakker with the crowd fully behind him.

Overall Thoughts

A great match to end NXT and Rollins was great. The rest of the show was ok to say the least. I didn’t really hate it, but it also wasn’t that memorable to me. The main event was incredible, with some great moments, and some nice damaging moves. Finn Balor showed up after the match, as the show went off the air.

AEW Collision 6/17/23 Results and Review

The premiere edition of AEW Collision was in Chicago and there was a lot of hype for it. I’ll be talking about it and seeing what went down with the following results and review because why else would I be here? I have nothing else to do while I slave away for the wage so to speak. Anyways, here are my thoughts on AEW Collision from Chicago!

The theme song is good for what it is, but for a wrestling promotion? I don’t know. I love the song in its own, but meh, it just is lacking somehow. Oh well.

CM Punk came out first thing, and the crowd went nuts. They have waited 9 months or so, and CM Punk came out to a roar of a crowd. It was not dull in anyway shape or form, and I was all about it!

Punk talked big, and it was good as always because he is a gifted orator. He talked big, he talked strong, and it was fun to see.

Luchasaurus defeated Wardlow for the TNT Championship

A solid opening match with a lot of power moves. The flow was good here, with each man getting some nice momentum shifts. However, it was a little bit of cheating with Christian Cage getting in the way! The match ended with a camera being broken on the head of Wardlow, making Luchasauras the new TNT champion.

Andrade El Idolo defeated Buddy Matthews

Another great match, this time mixing modern technical wrestling with a little lucha libre for good measure. Matthews was he faster of the wo, and Andrade kept pushing through this one and eventually applied one heck of a submission, forcing Buddy to tap out completely. This was like a game of chess overall, with a lot of action back and forth, and it was incredible to see these guys get a little breathing room in terms of time.

Miro defeated Tony Nese

There was a lot of people in the crowd chanting for Miro, and he threw down with Tony Nese. Nese barely got any offense in, and it was a glorified squash. Nese did get a little bit in, so it wasn’t a burial, but in under 4 minutes this match was all Miro. Miro looked amazing  here, and he won with relative ease. Good quick match if you ask me.

Skye Blue and Willow Nightingale defeated The Outcasts (Ruby Soho and Toni Storm)

A solid outing from these fine wrestlers. Skye Blue is from Chicago and the crowd kept chanting for her. There was a lot of strong hits in this one, and it went back and forth, with no clear indicator of one team greater than the other in the preliminary moments. A fine back and forth if you ask me. This was one hell of a match folks, and so much fun. Skye Blue and Willow Nightingale would get the win, but not without some strong competition.

FTR and CM PUNK defeated Jay White, Juice Robinson, and Samoa Joe

Everything you could want in a six man tag was found here. No nonsense a lot of the time, with a great deal of back and forth, reversals, and some of the hardest chops you’re going to see anywhere. The match was good overall, and it featured all of the competitors in a shining light. The crowd was all over this one, and they were really excited to see what was going on throughout. I was cheering from my desk at work. The shatter machine and a GTS nailed the win for CM Punk and FTR, which was a great match to see folks, so much fun.

Overall Thoughts

FTR and CM Punk threw down a lot, and it was fun. There was a great deal of back and forth from all wrestlers in this showcase. 2 hours of pure wrestling fun, and it was very much like a ppv quality show if you ask me. I loved it.

WWE Friday Night Smackdown 6/16/23 Results and Review

Alright, It’s been a couple days since I saw the show, so don’t blame me that this is a short one. I will be Live in Cleveland, so no Raw review this week, unless someone messages me that they need it. I doubt anyone reads this, except for me and another idiot out there. Anyways, here are my thoughts on Smackdown.

Pretty Deadly wins a gauntlet Match for the Number 1 Contendership

This was a gauntlet match that lasted around 21 minutes, and it wasn’t horrible, with the exception of burying a few of the teams. No joke some teams were gone within a few minutes, while others took a little longer. Pretty Deadly would pull out a victory here, but it wasn’t without a bit of a fight from the Brawling Brutes. I thought for sure the Brutes had this one, but nope, it was Pretty Deadly with the win. Not a bad match, and a lengthy start to a 2 hour show.

Zelina Vega defeated Iyo Sky

Well, not much to be said here as it was a 2 minute match. I’m so tired of WWE and other promotions giving women only 2 minutes to do something. It was a match, but didn’t do a whole lot for me.

Karrion Kross and Scarlett defeated The OC (AJ Styles and Michin)

Another 2 minute match, and well, Karrion Kross steals one. This is just filler at this point.

Santos Escobar defeated LA Knight

There is no one on the roster that is organically over like LA Knight at this point. I can’t believe it, and yet he doesn’t get much in the way of a push. Another 2 minute epic here folks, leaving a lot to be desired if you ask me.

The Bloodline Explodes

This was a great segment and it had The Bloodline exploding, with a superkick to Roman Reigns. Well two superkicks! This was awesome and well worth checking out, setting up a tag team match for Money in the Bank, which should be interesting to say the least.

Overall Thoughts

I can’t believe the show. It was short and sweet, pushing very little in the way of wrestling, and doing a little more story telling at the end. My overall thought is to just catch the HULU version or youtube clips, because with so much under 3 minutes, it’s just stupid. I didn’t like this night of wrestling. With the exception of the Bloodline story.

AEW Dynamite 6/14/23 Results and Review

Another night of Dynamite came and went. I was watching a movie so I didn’t see it live, but you better believe that I wasn’t going to miss the show that people on twitter kept spoiling for me. So let’s get into the action and see what’s up from Washington DC.

Adam Cole vs. MJF went to a time limit draw 30 minutes

A solid opener, a great deal of quality wrestling went down here. MJF is mega talented, and Adam Cole is no slouch. The two went back and forth with control, and power moves, not wasting a minute of things. This was methodically done, with focus on wrestling and counters. This wasn’t just brawling, mind you, it had a lot of different components, and went 30 minutes. It was a great opening option, and I was impressed with how they gave this one away for free on tv, and first thing on the program. This may very well may be the best match I’ve seen this week, great one. See it for yourself.

Sammy Guevara came out for an interview, then Darby Allin and Chris Jericho came out, and there was a little back and forth on the mic. This was a good exchange, and then Sting came out with a bat, and evened out the odds here. This was an interesting face off! First time Sting and Jericho stared down one another.

Darby Allin, Keith Lee, Orange Cassidy, and Sting defeated The Mogul Embassy

Another fun pro wrestling match. There was a lot of back and forth, wild moments, and some great reversals. Some fast paced action and great movement from all made this an instant classic. Fun back and forth, Darby, Keith, Orange, and Sting all got their moves in, including Sting’s Scorpion Death Drop for the ending. A great match overall, and some fun interactions throughout.

Wardlow defeated Jake Hager

Not a bad match here, a good back and forth, but Wardlow was not going to lose. Jack Hager did try to get in some good shots, but it was Wardlow that was impressive here. He took out Hager with two bombs, and an interesting array of moves. The guy can move, he’s good, and we’ll see him once again in action against Luchasaurus, as they came on the screen with a bloodied Arn Anderson. Way to continue the story!

Toni Storm defeated Skye Blue in the AEW Women’s Title Match

A fun women’s match on the show? Yeah, it was about 7 minutes, and while it wasn’t the most technically advanced match, it was fun to watch. Ruby Soho came into play at some points, but Toni Storm was able to muster up enough offense to beat Skye Blue overall. A Texas cloverleaf was the ending submission, and we had things move forward with another successful title defense.

The Elite defeated Blackpool Combat Club in a six man tag team match

This match was on fire, and all six men threw together some great moments. I was impressed how much brawling there was early on, then it moved into a more technical wrestling match. They kept pushing, and eventually got the crowd going crazy for everyone. The Elite would get the win after the BCC tried a bunch of different moves.

After the match Eddie Kingston came down an beat up the BCC.

Overall Thoughts

To be honest, this was a good beakdown of matches and fun overall. I thought the night had an enjoyable array of matches. The 30 minute draw was great, the women’s match delivered, and the other tag matches were fun romps as well. This was a good show, check it out.

WWE NXT 6/13/23 Results and Review

Another edition of NXT came and went, and this time around there was a little bit of a surprise. We’ll discuss that and the ongoing events in this results and review post for sure.

The show opened up with the Schism in ring.

Mustafa Ali, Tyler Bate, and Wes Lee defeated Schism 

A good opener for NXT with Ali, Bate and Lee throwing down some good high flying offense. Schism did a good job with their offense too, but it wasn’t meant to be this time. Ali was flying across the ring, and so was Lee overall. It was interesting to see them fly, and get a mix of modern wrestling too. Schism was good, but they seemed to be missing a few steps here, but it didn’t matter, Tyler Driver 97 and the win came home for the good guys. Great overall starting match.

Bron Breaker came out, and talked calling out Seth Rollins. Dragunov came running down too, but was thwarted. Seth Rollins appeared on the screen and accepted the challenge against Bron Breaker!

Thea Hail defeated Cora Jade

Not much of a match, only 4 minutes or so, but it was fast and moved through some quick moments. I liked it for what it was, but it was definitely not a great match because it was just not given enough time to tell a larger story. I’ll give this a pass because I know they tried their best, and I saw Dana Brooke coming out, and she’s hot.

Nathan Frazer defeated Oro Mensah

This was a fast paced match overall. It had a lot of fast moments, quick hits, and steady action. It was a Heritage Cup match, but with Noam Dar acting injured, things just didn’t seem to go well for him. He put in Oro Mensah to get the fight on against Frazer, and it was a fun match to watch. It had some good back and forth, and was halfway decent.

Axiom and Scrypts defeated Dabba-Kato in a handicap match

Dabba-Kato basically took a lot of punishment in this one, although dished out a little too. He would eventually lose to the numbers game as he couldn’t beat two people at once. This was an ok match. Nothing special in my book.

A couple of guys ran down and beat up Axiom and Scrypts but I didn’t catch who they were.

Malik Blade defeated Edris Enofe

Under 3 minutes of action, this match didn’t really do it for me. It was ok for what it was, but that isn’t saying a whole lot. There was some high flying moments, but overall this was a short match and didn’t tell quite the compelling story. I guess it was filler? Not a whole lot to write about this one, sorry.

Roxanne Perez defeated Tatum Paxley

Another match under 3 minutes of time. The clock started and the two went to work on having a very fast paced, high impact match. It was once again ok at best, but there’s not a lot to write home about overall. It had a few good moments, but it just wasn’t long enough to tell a good story.

Baron Corbin defeated Ilja Dragunov

A good back and forth match was found here. Corbin can wrestle when he is put in the ring with a good opponent. This was a good overall match with a lot of back and forth between the two. Dragunov can brawl, and knows some technical stuff too. Corbin did a mix of his normal offense, and the two took on a good match even though it wasn’t extremely long. Corbin would hit End of Days and that would be it for this match. Good stuff for sure.

Overall Thoughts

Two matches were good, the rest was jus filler if you ask me. NXT is hit and miss sometimes. However, I look forward to seeing what they come up with next week when Seth Rollins invades NXT.

WWE Monday Night Raw 6/13/23 Results and Review

Well, once again I stayed up late to watch the Monday Night show. I wasn’t reviewing as I saw it, so my review only talks about the wrestling. There was some good promos, and back and forth too, but I didn’t mention it, instead let’s talk about the night of wrestling.

Cody Rhodes defeated The Miz

A competition was had here, and it was a lot of back and forth overall. Rhodes didn’t really dominate this one, The Miz really had a great deal of offense. Though he wasn’t wrestling like his life depended on it like he did a few weeks ago. Rhodes would eventually pull off his finisher, and get the win, but it was a good opener overall.

Becky Lynch defeated Chelsea Green

Another competitive back and forth match! I was surprised that Green lasted so long here, with a little over 7 minutes of action. This was a fun little match, with Lynch getting the submission win. A fun match, but you knew the outcome from the starting point.

Damian Priest defeated Matt Riddle

Holy crap, another good match! I was surprised that Riddle didn’t lose this one sooner. Priest and Riddle put on a good back and forth match, with a lot of action. There was a decent balance here, and Priest would eventually get the win. This was fun, and roughly 14 minutes or so, but wow, a decent showing from both competitors.

Bronson Reed defeated Ricochet via DQ

This wasn’t much of a match, Ricochet would eventually get in a little trouble cause Nakamura came out and interfered with the match. This is going to lead to a triple threat I’m sure. We’ll see what happens next week in Cleveland.

Shayna Baszler defeated Raquel Rodriguez

This was a terrible two minute match, with nothing really to write home about. It wasn’t great.

Chad Gable defeated Erik

Another less than 2 minute match and was terrible. Gable wins, nothing to write home about.

Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn defeated Imperium in a WWE Raw Tag Team Title match

This was a fun back and forth match with a great deal of action. Imperium wasn’t bad here, and they really put on a show against Owens and Zayn. This was fun, with a lot of action. Owens and Zayn would get the big win, and the match was nearly 20 minutes. It sent the fans home happy. It was really good.

Overall Thoughts

I didn’t think this night of Raw was that good at all. Sure, there were a few good matches, but it also had a lot of talking, and some matches that were less than 2 minutes in length. Next week, we will be seeing Raw from Cleveland, and maybe it will showcase a little more action.

Speaking of which, I will be there live! I will be at WWE Cleveland live! So no review next week.

Impact Wresting Against All Odds 2023 Results and Review

Live from Columbus Ohio, the Impact Wrestling crew were there for Against All Odds! The PPV had a lot of supporters, but I didn’t go, even though it wasn’t too far away. I decided that I wanted to stay home and work, because that’s what I do, I work all the time. Anyways, I found that this night had a lot of matches, and I wasn’t sure what to expect.

Frankie Kazarian defeated Eddie Edwards

Things seemed to go in slow motion a few times overall. I found that the match itself had moments, but it really wasn’t crazy. It was a standard wrestling match, and nothing too crazy. That isn’t a bad thing, mind you, but going into this with any sort of background, I just had a hard time getting into the match. It was serviceable, don’t get me wrong, but it wasn’t grand. It had back and forth, nice moves, and the crowd seemed to be into it, but in the end, Frankie Kazarian picked up the win. It was ok at best.

ABC (Ace Austin and Chris Bey) defeated The Good Hands (Jason Hotch and John Skyler) in the Impact world tag team title match

A fun back and forth match here, with both teams getting their moves in. ABC work well as a team and really put the boots to the Good Hands team. ABC would eventually get the upper hand with a variety of moves to end things. Good Hands did have some good moments, mind you, but the match ended with a victory for ABC after some quality wrestling. A good tag team match.

Masha Slamovich defeated Killer Kelly in a dog collar match

I love a good grudge match, and apparently these women were fighting each other a lot lately. This match was a grudge match and it was fought with a dog collar! I love a good dog collar matches. This was a good back and forth affair with a lot of fighting between the two women. Both women used the chain at times, and they were definitely hitting hard with it. There wasn’t a lot of blood or anything, but there was some hard hitting moments, and Masha would eventually beat down Killer Kelly enough to win this matchup. Good grudge match with solid hitting, and nice finale.

Chris Sabin defeated Trey Miguel for the Impact X Division Title

A fun lightweight match. Sabin threw down a great deal of offense and counters to get the win. Trey Miguel wasn’t going down without a fight, though, as he put in some work, high flying moments, and more against sabin. Even with his best foot forward, it was Sabin that was able to top Try Miguel in a good overall back and forth matchup. Good stuff here, even though it was roughly only 13 minutes. It was fun.

Nick Aldis won a 8-4-1 Match for a number one contendership

So this started with an eight man tag, which was fun to watch, then broke down into a four way dance. Overall, there was a lot of great overall back and forth with all of the wrestlers getting some action into this. I loved the back and forth between all of the wrestlers, and they each had some great moments. I also liked how the final four threw in all of their finishers, before deciding that Nick Aldis won the match overall. A fun match here, with a weird stipulation, and well, a new number one contender. Fun stuff here. Bully Ray, Heath, Jonathan Gresham, Mike Bailey, Moose, and PCO were all involved in this match, good stuff.

Deonna Purrazzo and Trinity defeated Gisele Shaw and Savannah Evans in a tag team match

Not without some minor hiccups, this match was an interesting women’s tag team match. The competition that is in Impact is different than WWE of course, but it was a good back and forth option here. Gisele and Savannah was able to throw down a great deal of offense, and held control over the match for a good deal of it. There were some sweet moments too, and Trinity came through great overall, but not without getting hit with some good spots overall. It kind of ended with a bit of a hum, nothing too grand, and Trinity wasn’t even involved with it.

OVE (Jake Crist, Madman Fulton, and Sami Callihan) defeated The Design (Angels, Deaner, and Kon) in an Ohio Street Fight

Not quite a death match, but this was a fight. A street fight for that matter, and it was a good option overall. Both teams brawled back and forth, so don’t expect much technical wrestling in this one. It was a back and forth affair with plunder galore. Fun stuff here, with some great overall hits, misses, and moments with chairs, ladders, trash cans, and more. Fun match, about 15 minutes in length, and just plain fun for a street fight.

Alex Shelley defeated Steve Maclin for the Impact World Title

A twenty plus minute match was had here, with a good mix of classical wrestling and a little high flying stuff here. There was a bit of psychology with Shelley focusing on the arm of Steve Maclin at various points in the match. Maclin put through some brawling, and some good moments too, it wasn’t at all one sided. After some good momentum, Shelley pulled out the win, and the crowd was a bit in shock.

Overall Thoughts

Some fun stuff here, with a variety of wrestling styles, and some good momentum going throughout. I didn’t hate the night, but it wasn’t all great. It had moments, and that is enough to get you going home happy. Lots of good wrestling to be had, fun women’s match, the dog collar match was my favorite, and well, this was definitely something alternative to behold. Enjoy!

AEW Rampage 6/9/23 Results and Review

Another week of Rampage came through and I finally got around to watching it. I knew nothing about it beforehand, so I wanted to see what I was in for overall. I turned this on, and was impressed with the quickness that the matches got started with.  

Bandido and The Lucha Brothers defeated Big  Bill, Ethan Page, and Lee Moriarty

A six man tag match, with a lot of lucha action counteracted with modern wrestling. Both styles work so well, and it was a lot of fun to see this match with a lot of back and forth. The lucha guys are incredible, and I’m impressed with the reversals and moments that the other guys threw in for good measure. If you’re a fan of six man tags, this was a good opener, and definitely loved it. Bandido got the pinfall with a 21 Plex, which looked really cool! Good match overall.

Powerhouse Hobbs defeated Caleb Crush

So, do you like burials? Squash matches? Well, here is a match that was under 2 minutes and was just those things rolled into one. I guess that’s something, I don’t know. Hobbs wins, easily.

Billy Gunn and The Acclaimed defeated Spanish Announce Project

A solid back and forth affair was had here, with a mix of modern wrestling and a little lucha libre action to boot. Billy Gunn and the Acclaimed were well over with the crowd with each tag getting a lot of praise. The Spanish guys were good too, but they would be thwarted by Billy Gunn and his crew. Billy Gunn is huge compared to the other guys, and it was interesting to see as the Spanish guys did well with selling for him. At the end of the day The Acclaimed and Gunn would win in a fun match.

A trios match would get setup with Aubrey Edwards, Mark Briscoe, and Daddy Briscoe versus The Jarrett’s and I believe Jay Lethal for another time. Not a bad segment overall.  

Sky Blue defeated Dr. Britt Baker, Mercedes Martinez, and Nyla Rose in a 4 way

This match would allow the winner to get a shot at the AEW Women’s title. All of these women put together a good deal of offense, and reversals overall. This was methodical, with each woman getting her moments into the match. There wasn’t a lot of bedlam, mind you, but there were some break ups and beat downs at times. Sky Blue got the win, but not without taking some punishment, and seeing some other women get beat down too. Overall, a good match to end AEW Rampage.

WWE Smackdown 6/9/23 Results and Review

I watched this show in two different sit downs. The reason why is because the show was a little boring for my tastes. It was so boring that even my girlfriend was wondering why we were watching. We would see the whole thing, but I’m reviewing it on Monday afternoon instead of another time. That being said, I will be reviewing the wrestling only.

Santos Escobar defeated Mustafa Ali

This was a good overall match with Escobar getting the upper hand in the end. Mustafa Ali has to be happy with getting so much work these days. He’s on NXT and Smackdown these days. He put in some good moments, mind you, but Escobar escaped to get a spot in the Money in the Bank match that is coming up in the near future.

Bayley defeated Michin

Under 3 minutes, nothing too much to write home about to be honest. I didn’t hate it, but I also didn’t like it much. Bayley and Michin deserve a lot more than what they are given.

Butch defeated Baron Corbin

This was under 2 minutes again, and well it was nothing write home about overall. Butch wins, Corbin loses another match, and well that was that.

Iyo Sky defeated Shotzi

Guess what! Another under 3 minutes and well it wasn’t that grand. This was a bad match with a bit of back and forth, and well, nothing to write home about with such a little amount going on overall.

Austin Theory defeated Jey Uso in the United States title match

This was a good back and forth match, and Theory was looking like he was going to go down for a change. A ref bump caused Solo Sikoa to jump in but he was thwarted, and then Jimmy kicked Jey on accident, and Theory was able to jump in and pin Jey. This was some compelling work, and it was fun to see, a great thing.

Overall Thoughts

This was not great overall. It had a couple of good moments, the opening and closing matches were good, but other than that, this was a slow moving vessel of a show. It was tired. Oh, Charlotte came back, and AJ Styles got a face full of mist in another segment, not bad. 

Impact Wrestling 6/8/23 Results and Review

I don’t know a lot about recent Impact wrestling action, so this is my first time looking into it. I’ll no doubt want to check out what is going on, so here we go, the results and review for Impact Wrestling that aired 6/8/23.

Chris Bey defeated Jason Hotch

A solid opening match, with some good back and forth action. This wasn’t amazing or anything, and it was only around 7 minutes long. A short match with some good moments. Bey was good here, and Hotch didn’t hold back, with both men trading blows overall.

After the match Brian Myers and John Skyler jumped Chris Bey, and ended up getting involved with a beat down. It wasn’t terrible.

Heath defeated Champagne Singh

Hey! It’s Heath Slater! This was a fast match with not a whole lot to write about. Sure it had a little back and forth, but it wasn’t much, and under 3 minutes, it’s  honestly ridiculous. I thought WWE had short matches. Heath hit a Wake up Call and won the match. It was a match, but not much of one.

Joe Hendry defeated Sheldon Jean

I’m not familiar with either person in the match. I only heard the names in passing. The match had a bit of a back and forth feel to it, with both men trading moves. There were some slow moving options here and there, with a few power moves, but overall it was a standard modern match. Don’t expect a lot of high flying options here, as it was just a standard match, with nothing too thrilling to write about.

The Coven defeated Death Dollz in the Women’s Tag Team Title Match

This back and forth affair wasn’t too crazy, and it was interesting to see two different teams. I didn’t see any of the women before, although Taylor Wilde seemed familiar. This had a good deal of brawling, and some power moves to boot, but it was definitely not a long winded matchup. After about 6 minutes or so, this match ended, and it was ok at best.

Trey Miguel defeated Bhupinger Gujjar

Not enough time was given to this X-Division match. Gujjar threw in some offense here and there, and Trey was able to thwart some of the movements. Miguel would eventually tie this one down, and won with a flurry of moves. The crowd wasn’t really into this one, with a few people shouting, but mostly quiet. I was actually a little bored with this 5 minute match. Can’t win em all.

Moose and Rich Swann defeated Jonathan Gresham and Nick Aldis

A somewhat slow moving affair was had in the main event tonight. It wasn’t fun to watch, it was just meandering for the most part. These people are going to be in the number one contenders match at Against All Odds. I didn’t hate this, mind you, it had a lot of back and forth, but it wasn’t great either. Moose was doing things great here, and really is impressive with power. Gresham was good too, and Aldis is always interesting to see as well, but it wasn’t a balanced affair at all. Moose and Swann would get the win, but not without a good fight towards the end.

Overall Thoughts

There’s a reason why not a lot of podcasts or bloggers are talking about Impact Wrestling. While it’s not that great, it had its moments overall. I would watch it in person, and would definitely keep an eye out for some quality match ups from the Impact crew.

ROH Honor Club 6/8/23 Results and Review

I didn’t know what to expect from ROH, but I wanted to see what was up, and review it. So here we go, we are going to be reviewing ROH Honor Club 15, from 6/8.

Kyle Fletcher defeated Christopher Daniels

I’ve never seen Fletcher before, but I have seen Christopher Daniels. Daniels is great, and Fletcher was doing well against him. The match was mid-paced, slowly moving towards an ending. It wasn’t fast paced like you’d expect from modern wrestling, but that doesn’t mean it was bad. I just expected a little more of a frenetic pace considering the show is only 2 hours long. Daniels focused on Fletcher’s neck, doing a little technical wrestling overall, and slowing down the fast paced offense of Fletcher. It wasn’t bad, smart move from the veteran. Fletcher got a win with a hammerlock piledriver out of seemingly nowhere, which was nice.

Matt Sydal defeated Zack Clayton

A fast paced, quick bout of a match. This was under five minutes, mind you. There was a little back and forth, but it was a fast paced match that ended in a meteora, and that was that. Less than five minutes folks. Not exactly much to write about.

Dralistico defeated Willie Mack

The match started with all Dralistico getting into action, and throwing his body around. A lot of high flying moves were had at first. However, Willie Mack would turn things around and show off some moves of his own, including some interesting moments where he was doing some high flying. After some  help from Jose, a low blow, and a knee, Willie Mack would get the win. Not a bad match, but not a great one either.

Willow Nightingale defeated Rachael Ellering in the NJPW Strong Championship Match

Ellering did a good job of showing off her offense against Willow, but she wasn’t going to win t his one. Willow as champ is strong, and she has some interesting moves to go through her opponents. She reminds me a little of Bull Nakano in the way that she can dominate at times. This was a little back and forth, but it wasn’t meant to be for Ellering. Good match even if it wasn’t too long.

The Mogul Embassy defeated Cheeseburger, Eli Isom, Marcus Kross

Another fast match, under five minutes, and not too bad. It was fast moving, with a great deal of focus on each participant getting some quick moves in. Of course, the trio that was just thrown together would fall to the Mogul Embassy.  The Mogul Embassy dominated a great deal of the match, and once again tour through their opponents. There’s a reason why they are the trios champs.

Mercedes Martinez defeated Vertvixen

Another short one folks, less than 5 minutes of action, and really just a simple match. This was a little back and forth, with a few moves from each woman. They threw down some sweet moves, including a blue thunder bomb that was crisp, and a nice submission move to end the match. A good match overall, even if it wasn’t too long overall.

Lee Moriarty defeated Griff Garrison

This was mostly Griff Garrison getting all the offense. He was beating up Lee left and right, getting some good amount of offense in, but it was Lee Moriarty with a roll up, I kid you not, and the win. This was a short match, and it really was nothing to write about. Skippable if you ask me.

Kiera Hogan defeated Robyn Renegade

Robyn Renegade had a good showing against Kiera Hogan. There was a bit of back and forth, but with such a short match, it was hard to really get into it. Renegade did a good deal of the offense, but it was Hogan that would get the win here. Not bad.

After the match Athena showed up with a kendo stick and tried to jump Hogan. This was fun, Hogan would get the upper hand though, and boom, kendo stick breaks.

The Dark Order defeated Shane Taylor and The Work Horsemen

I was surprised that this wasn’t one sided. It actually had some good back and forth overall. The Dark Order would get the win, but it wasn’t easy for them. The other team had a great deal of offense, and some tandem work, making it interesting to see. This was a fun match, with a lot of attention against the Dark Order. They weren’t getting their best foot forward, even though they would turn things around and would win, it wasn’t an easy brawl for them.

Action Andretti, AR Fox, and Darius Martin defeated The Trustbusters

A back and forth affair, with some good overall wrestling, but nothing that stood out too much for me. I was impressed by Sonny Kiss’ offense though, and outside of that, it was just ok overall. I didn’t hate it, but it was shorter than I would have liked. Around 6 minutes of action and that’s it. Action Andretti, AR Fox and Darius Martin would get the win here, and that was that.

The Kingdom defeated El Cobarde and El Dragon

The lucha libre guys were impressive. They are good, and swift overall. They definitely fought hard, and was nice to see them go through the steps of lucha style. The Kingdom was getting beat a lot, but would comeback and hit a few nice moves including tandem moments to get the victory. The Kingdom would get the victory, and the crowd would go mild. Not a great match, but it had some fun overall.

Rey Fenix defeated Gravity

The main even went a little longer than the rest of the card. I liked that overall. This was one hell of a lucha libre matchup. It was pure lucha style, with a lot of high flying moves, and some impressive reversals and counters. Swift, and to the point, Rey Fenix would get the win, but Gravity was pushing the laws of sorts, as he was flying through the air, and also doing some good submissions too. Fun match, lots of great moments, and something that you should check out. Rey Fenix with the win, but wow, what a match.

Overall Thoughts

The crowd could’ve been better They were ok at times, but they were not as loud as I’d have hoped. Other than that, this was a long bit of wrestling for only having 2 hours. They packed a lot into a short span, but that means that many of the matches were quick and under 5 minutes. The main even was only about 10 minutes or so, so that gives you an idea of how long these matches were. The final match was great, but other than that, I wouldn’t go out of my way to see this.

AEW Dynamite 6/7/2023 Results and Review

I thought for sure I didn’t have anything to review today, but then I remembered that I had to watch AEW Dynamite. Not that anyone is reading my writing, but I wanted to drop in and once again review what is going on with AEW Dynamite, and the latest and greatest from the company that puts on good wrestling, regardless of what an empty arena says.

Orange Cassidy defeated Swerve Strickland in the AEW International Title Match

Once again we open the show with Orange Cassidy, and this time he defends against Swerve Strickland, and his record is 14 and 0 for the year. He’s defended the title 23 times, and is still going. Everything you could want in a match was found in this back and forth limit pushing match. I was impressed with Swerve’s push forward, and Cassidy’s reversals. This was a great match, and perhaps the best one to see this week. The House Call was hit, but Swerve didn’t get the pinfall, as Cassidy kept pushing. Orange rolled over Swerve, pulled the tights, and got the win overall. A great opener, no doubt, had fun, great stuff here.

The lights went out, and when they came back on it was Sting and Darby Allin! They helped Orange fend off a beat down after the match.

Blackpool Combat Club defeated CHAOS

CHAOS started this match fast, bringing the fight right to Blackpool Combat Club. I was impressed witih how fast this one started, and we even got a nice superplex in the early goings of the match. There was a frenetic pace with this match, and the Best Friends were doing very well against the BCC. Nice back and forth throughout the match, but with CHAOS throwing down some offense. There was a lot of back and forth, good stuff, with pacing that never truly slowed down. I loved how it worked out. I loved it, great fun here. The BCC won this one, and dis so in dominant fashion towards the end.

MJF came out and talked a bit, and even talked with Adam Cole. I liked this, and we should see the next competitor for MJF to win over.

JungleHook defeated La Faccion Ingobernable in a Texas Tornado Match

This was a fight between two teams. I found it to be fun to watch. The Texas Tornado rules made for an interesting match, with both teams fighting to get control. One set of guys were outside of the ring while the other two were in the ring, and there was a lot of back and forth. It was a fight, a brawl at times, with little to no wrestling to speak of, and it was interesting to see. Nothing was wasted here, as they just brawled and really fought to make a hardcore match out of this one. There was a sick table spot, a DDT on a table, and just a great deal action. Jungle Boy got the win with a submission, and wow, what a match to see. Great action, fun stuff, just great in my book.

Konosuke Takeshita defeated Damon Ace

Less than 2 minutes overall. This was a squash of sorts, a burial even. Not much to see here, skip it, I didn’t really feel like saying much else.

Kris Statlander defeated Anna Jay AS in the AEW TBS Title match

Only one women’s match tonight? Fine with me. Statlander did not roll over through Anna Jay here. The competitor in Anna Jay pushed the limits overall. She had a lot of offense against Statlander, and looked good against the champ. Statlander did some fighting back too, but she was definitely not making quick work of Anna Jay. I was impressed with how much offense was given from Jay. A beautiful tombstone piledriver later, and Kris Statlander would win this one.

Jay White defeated Ricky Starks

This thing started on the ramp with a lot of brawling. The two just embroiled in rivalry, fought one another with punches flying right away. This was a slower moving match, which isn’t a bad thing, but I definitely noticed that the pace had slowed down. The match featured a good bit of brawling over technical wrestling. It was a match where both men got the upper hand here and there, driving some good moves and constant brawling. This was a hard hitting battle, and in the end Jay White was able to put away Ricky Starks.

Overall Thoughts

A good overall show, with just a little bit of a lull. It was a good night for those that are looking for quality wrestling. There was a lot of wrestling here, and some great moments. The main event delivered, but so did the majority of the matches, with the exception of one. I liked this night of wrestling and am impressed with how the AEW company keeps moving with quality shows.

WWE NXT 6/6/23 Results and Review

WWE NXT time! I had a rough day at work, and just wanted to get moving forward, and well, things picked up with the show, so let’s see how it all went down.

Baron Corbin came to the show, and told someone to hit his music. He then came out and addressed the crowd. Out came, Dragonov and wants a piece of him. Then out came Trick Williams and started to brawl with Corbin, throwing him out of the ring.

The Schism defeated Diamond Mine in a six man mixed tag team match

A strong opening match for NXT, with both teams isolating pieces of one another’s team. There were some tandem moves here, and some nice shots to the outside as well. There were some stellar moments, including one hell of a suplex handoff! Delayed suplex aside, there were a variety of moments that made this a good match overall. These wo teams are just great, well oiled machines, and turned out well if you ask me. Good match, good back and forth, a nice opener overall. Quick tags, good moves, fast pacing, what else could you ask for in a six man tag?

Blair Davenport defeated Dani Palmer

Got 3 minutes? Well that’s how much they gave these two women. It seems like NXT gives their women one step forward at times, and then one step backward. This wasn’t a great match, but it wasn’t the worst things I’ve seen either. Davenport was mostly dominant here, and the match was a showcase of her talent more than Dani Palmer.

Baron Corbin defeated Trick Williams

I’m not a huge Corbin fan, and I haven’t seen a lot from Trick Williams that I could remember. This match wasn’t half bad, it had a good flow, back and forth action, and some showcase of athleticism from both men. Corbin did most of his moves, but he didn’t just dominate, though he had a lot of attention against Williams. Williams didn’t back down either, he fought hard to get this win, but he just couldn’t do it. End of Days was hit and Corbin gets the win in a not-so bad match.

Mustafa Ali defeated Joe Gacy

Got another 3 minutes or so? Then you have time to see this quick match that featured Mustafa Ali and Joe Gacy. It wasn’t a complete squash, there was a little back and forth, but Gacy wasn’t going to win this one and we all knew it. Mustafa Ali would get the win with a nice 450 splash from the top. A quick match, with nothing really hitting too grand for me.

After the match, Gacy’s crew ran in and tried to beat up Mustafa Ali, but were thwarted.

Eddy Thorpe defeated Damon Kemp

Two guys I had no idea were even on NXT. I never saw these two, so it was interesting to see them work. This was another short match, under 5 minutes, and adequate. It had a good deal of back and forth. Damon Kemp had this match sewn up for a great deal of time. It was Thorpe with a nice suplex pin combination that would win the match, but Damon’s foot was on the ropes. Oh well, too bad so sad, right? Lol

Scrypts defeated Dabba-Kato

Less than 3 minutes! Yes, oh man, we once again get a little taste of wrestling. I hate that they shove stuff like this into the show, but that’s my two cents. Scrypts barely got any major offense in, although he didn’t just get buried. It was a short match, but it was Dabba-Kato that would dominate a good portion of this match. Axiom showed up and distracted Dabba-Kato, and eventually Scrypts got the pinfall victory with a nice roll up. Then Dabba-Kato beat up Axiom and Scrypts before leaving the ring.

Thea Hail won a NXT Women’s Title Number One Contender Battle Royal

There was a bit of sloppy wrestling in this one. I laughed a bit as the event started, and it was laughable at the starting point. Things picked up though, as there were some moments of action, and short term alliances. Thea Hail would get the win, but not before she was outside of the ring for a while. This was a fun little match, with not a lot to really write about. Hail got celebrated with a bunch of extras.

Bron Breaker was interviewed in the parking lot and he called out Seth Rollins! No joke.

Overall Thoughts

A weak NXT event, but it wasn’t horrible. I liked about half of the night, and the rest was just filler. I enjoyed this somewhat, and think that there is a great deal more to come from NXT. I wouldn’t recommend this episode if you’re tight on time, you’re not missing a ton. The main event was fun, and there was a little bit of fun to be had with the matches, but not extreme. I’ll be back for more reviews later. I’m going to get a burger and fries.

NJPW Dominion 2023 Results and Review

NJPW was live from Osaka, Japan and had an attendance of 7,040 people and was live on 6/4. I didn’t get to catch up with it until now, and wanted to review it because of course I’m a fan of pro wrestling and have time on my hands, so I wanted to drop in and say what’s up.

Will Ospreay defeated Lance Archer

I’ve seen Will Ospreay before but I don’t remember a lot of Lance Archer matches. This match was hard hitting, but it wasn’t without some interesting maneuvers throughout. There was a lot of slams, and flying around the ring from both men. Lance Archer is impressive as a big man that can fly. Ospreay is known for his high flying moves, and he did a few here, fast as lightning mind you. Even though Ospreay was smaller, he was able to hit Archer with some stellar moves. There were some nice near falls as Archer kept hitting big moves, but it was Ospreay that got the victory. A great opener, smart and cunning, good hits, great moves, fun overall.

Los Ingobernables de Japon defeated Just 5 Guys in an 8 Man Tag

There’s a lot of action to try and comprehend with this match. There were a mix of moves, fast paced action, and lots of back and forth. This broke down several times into a brawl at times, and the ref kept  having to get control over the match. Los ingobernables really put the boots to the 5 Guys, and I found them to be fascinating overall. This was a fun match, although hard to keep up with all the action moving forward. I liked it a lot, and definitely think it was a great display from 8 top guys on the NJPW roster.

Catch 22 (Francesco Akira and TJP) defeated Intergalactic Jet Setters (Kevin Knight and Kushida)

A fast paced affair was had here, and it was fun to watch. Catch 22 were flying all over the ring, and outside of it to boot. The Jet Setters were good too, Kushida is impressive to me. He moves so fast, and Kevin Knight was good too, throwing down some great moves including one incredible drop kick with height. Catch 22 though was too much, and their team work is tandem, in stereo and just fun to watch. I haven’t seen a pair so in sync in a long time, and they definitely pushed things through to a fun match, even if it wasn’t too long.

Zack Sabre Jr. defeated Jeff Cobb in the NJPW World Television Title Match

Jeff Cobb is a beast. He was able to throw around Zack Sabre Jr. throughout this match at various times. Zack had to fight from below, and really put on a technical showcase, which he did. He’s one of the best technical wrestlers in the world, and it showed here with a lot of reversals and submission moves. However, Cobb kept powering through many of the options, but even though he had the easier time in some moments, Zack Sabre Jr. was able to defeat him. Sabre did a move that ended in a crucifix for the pinfall victory, and it was really cool to see.

Bishamon defeated House of Torture, and United Empire in a three way tornado match for the IWGP Tag team / NJPW strong openweight tag team titles

There was a lot of frenetic action in this match. A three way tornado match basically means everyone is fighting all at once, and it was fun overall. This was more of a hard hitting, strong style match. There were some moves, brawling, and just overall harder hitting moments than the previous matches. I found this to be a little change of pace for the night, and just didn’t think it was that great. Yeah, it was ok, and there were moments that made me like it, but something was missing throughout, and perhaps it just was the change of pace. There were some good moves, and tandem wrestling at times too, but it was lacking a little. Bishamon won the match, and it wasn’t terrible, just different I guess.

David Finlay defeated El Phantasmo in the Never Openweight Title Match

Another strong match. Finlay and Phantasmo put each other through the ringer in this one. Solid back and forth action, with some nice lucha style elements at times, and some technical wrestling too. The two put their best foot forward in this match, and it was a fun battle to see unfold. It didn’t favor any one person, this was truly divided evenly, but Finlay had a little extra in the tank, with a solid performance. The announcers said it was dominant, but I didn’t think so, Phantasmo put up a good fight here.

Hiromu Takahashi defeated Master Wato in the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Title Match

Fans of Takahashi will no doubt love the performance put on by the champion. He really did fly around the ring, and put a lot of action into effect. Takahashi seemed poised to get this one easily, but Wato did turn the tables a few times, and things looked tough for the champion. I haven’t seen a lot of Takahashi matches, so I was impressed with his speed and precision throughout the match. Wato put some work in here, especially some technical wrestling and submissions, which was interesting to see. Takahashi had to drop his opponent twice with the timebomb to win, and it was quite good. Great match!

Chaos (Kazuchika Okada, Tomohiro Ishii) and Hiroshi Tanahashi defeated The Blackpool Combat Club (Claudio Casstagnoli, Jon Moxley) and Shota Umino

This match had a good mix of modern wrestling, strong style, and Japanese wrestling as well. The Blackpool boys did well here, and they really shined against Chaos and Tanahashi. This was a back and forth battle, and somewhat slow at times. There were rest holds at times, and submission moves, but you’ll find that the hard hitting balance was there, making this a fun match to see. There was a lot of hard hits, and some quality moments, with Chaos and Tanahashi picking up the victory.

Sanada defeated Yota Tsuji in the IWGP World Heavyweight Title Match

The main event was featuring two guys I haven’t seen work before. The match was a solid Japanese style match, with a great deal of back and forth. There was a focus on submissions, rest holds, and the occasional high spot. Sanada was definitely impressive to me, he was technical, versus Tsuji that wasn’t as tech forward. I mean, I type that, and I recall some major top rope moves from both. A solid ender to a good event, with a lot of action to speak of, and not really sure how to top the pure wrestling stylings that NJPW brings forth.

Overall Thoughts

For the purist, this was great. I loved the majority of wrestling that was on this show, and it really did push things forward for the company. While I can appreciate wrestling in all forms, I found that the NJPW product has a little extra focus on the wrestling rather than stories, but then again, I don’t speak Japanese so maybe I’m just missing that aspect. Either way, this was a good night of wrestling and I recommend it to anyone that loves pro wrestling.

WWE Monday Night Raw 6/6/23 Results and Review

Monday Night Raw came and went, and honestly, I was surprised by some of it. I actually invested in watching it through the whole show, and stayed up very late afterwards too. Here are my thoughts regarding the night of wrestling and talking overall.

Becky Lynch defeated Sonya Deville

This match went over ten minutes, and it told a good story. Lynch didn’t win this without a fight, and Deville did a good job fighting back against Lynch’s push. I was impressed that this was the opening bout, and the WWE actually let it play out. Lynch was distracted by Trish Stratus at one point, but that didn’t matter, because she was able to get the win here.

Gunther defeated Kevin Owens

One of the best matches I’ve seen on RAW in a long time. This was a fight overall, and both men went back and forth fighting one another. Gunter hit hard, and Owens didn’t back down, the two exchanged near falls, and some heavy hits, power moves, and more. Gunter would end up getting the win, but this match got some decent time, and was definitely one of the matches of the night for me.

Ronda Rousey and Shayna Bayzler defeated Katana Chance and Kayden Carter

These new women were quite amazing. They are high flyers, and they work so well in tandem. Ronda and Shayna had their hands full in this one, and it wasn’t a straight beat down. Yes, they would win, but they had to sell for some high flying offense, and fast paced movements. I was impressed by the newcomers to RAW, and you should be too.

Ricochet vs. Shinsuke Nakamura

This was a fun back and forth match, but it was interrupted by Bronson Reed and the match was thrown out. This was good though, I loved the back and forth from the two heavy hitters. Ricochet is impressive as always and Nakamura was great too, I liked this a lot even though it was interrupted by Nakamura.

Zoey Stark defeated Natalya

Well, this wasn’t even given 5 minutes, and once again Natalya gets buried. Ok, not a complete burial, but she is definitely not getting long matches, and well, I don’t know what they are doing with her. I expected more, but Stark won this in a barely ok match.

Seth Rollins defeated Damian Priest in the WWE World Heavyweight Title Match

This was a star of a match overall. It featured some high flying, fast paced action, and Priest was looking like a star here. Rollins did a great deal of work, but Priest was throwing everything at him overall. Finn Balor showed up at one point, and got knocked down for his trouble. Priest was mad at him though, and that could be a sign of cracks in the Judgment Day. Seth gets the win after a 20 minute match, which was a frenetic, good overall match.

Overall Thoughts

This was a good overall RAW. I was excited for it, and watched the whole thing, through to the end without watching the replay on HULU. I was thrilled with some of the matches, and loved two of them very much. This was a great night of wrestling if you ask me, even though there was MIZ TV, and talking in the opening segment. Miz got knocked out for his troubles, lol, good night of wrestling if you ask me.
